Tales From The Teapot Spout (Part One)

Are you sipping quietly?

High time we put the kettle on
Hatter’s teaspoon sprinkled tea
A rousing shrill from a whistling bill
Screamed boiling hot pour carefully

The strainer held the middle ground
As Teapot Spout revealed its trails
Full of happenings in Wonderland
A stirring swell of teatime tales

In sight of tea abundantly
Table seating free of anguish
Not talking jokes with coffee folks
Which is quite another languish

The cups received a story filled
On the banks of the River Tea
When all among those present then
Sipped slow and gradually

Just past the hour where once upon’s
Spoke in trickles from the Spout
Painting scenes of tea stained themes
In shapes that treaties bring about

With cupper class the tearoom pack
Driven wild with expectation
Poor strainer choked with overload
Causing gridlock altercation

Tipped and tapped the strainer cleared
The flow resumed its telling force
How the Queen was lost in shuffled packs
Whilst royal teapots quenched remorse

The King screamed out blue murder
Disengaged the blacks from reds
The hearts were holding diamonds
Clubs and spades were digging beds

Dusk pressed lids on heavy eyes
All around swayed driftily
One more leaf to build a dream
A caddy bag of far-out tea

The End Of The Beginning

This idea comes out of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party with sprinklings from the Boston Tea Party and other Wonderland cribs. Writing good nonsense requires a tremendous amount of effort which goes to show what a genius Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) really was.

Mad On Tea I Suppose

Up in the morning boiling a brew
Rosie Lee serenely I spree
An early riser for an appetizer
Cha, cha, cha Mad Hatter and me

Warming the pot brewing it hot
Out and about aromatically
No time to lose with fragrant cues
Cha, cha, cha Mad Hatter and me

Having another with me and my brother
A most agreeable pleasure is tea
Giving a thumb Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum
Cha, cha, cha Mad Hatter and me

We’ll rabbit ‘til late calm and sedate
Discussing the merits of tea
Oysters and pearls carpentry swirls
Cha, cha, cha Mad Hatter and me

Its Ober

Bin There

Changing fortunes in the way of things
As limping wrists have lost their grip
In spite of all those fags and frothy gags
Not much interest in UKIP

On leadership and inspiration
Mugs with thugs wiped out the group
All the whitewash turned to hogwash
A spreading thinned out kipping troupe

With much dismay and resignation
One must admit the day is here
As quick sands suck our one night stands
One must do right and disappear

A drubbing is a last gasp chance
For the has-been claimant to unzip
Twilight tears and sundown smiles
As Nigel plans a time out kip

Summer sun will shine a brighter light
Lets make haste to foreign climes
May be a rally round at Nuremburg
Sorrows soaked in liebfrau wines

Rolling With Polling

A Marginal Key

It’s finally election day
What a quandary in the dark
A farmers market full of promises
Barking pleading for your mark

Messages of ‘Only us’
We are the ones to make the changes
So frightfully insightfully
Each manifesto rearranges

The choice is your imperative
On cakes and pies and how divided
Although today the fight is really on
To draw the severed undecided

No longer party politics
More scraping sludge from rotten barrels
Who gets what not who has not
A peacock’s flash of old apparel

The constitution up for grabs
As floating hopeful songs are sung
Joined up thinking for convenience
Slackened ties not too well hung

About Turn and Turning On

When looking for alternatives
On how the ending may commence
Or the awkwardness of easiness
When one struggles on the fence

Misunderstanding what is silliest
Forgetting evidence is prime
Finger depths of shallow thinking
Pursuing shadowy shapes that chime

Thinking things one never thought about
When rollerskating waterfalls
Moving pot to pot on rainbow curves
At rapid speed of echoed calls

No more dwelling by my starter blocks
Or expecting dismal weather
Plainly drifting by a cloud of rooks
Who gave permission to untether
